My son and I attended many Dodger games with John and Linda. She would regale.us with events she attended and places she'd been and discuss teaching with my son. During lulls in action at the ballpark, we would exchange titles of books we liked. She gave me reviews of concerts she went to and we would talk about our favorite artists and their songs. For example her favorite Johnny Cash song wasn't "I Walk the Line" but "Folsom Prison Blues" with its one dastardly line. I also appreciated the fine food she served at the annual USC-UCLA game day party, a place for enjoyable conversation, and if John had his wish, constant playing of the USC fight song.
